in celebrating our 53nd year in the family
business here on Holden Beach! We are very
blessed and thankful for all that we have
accomplished over the years.
Our company is a 4th generation family
business that began in 1961 with my parents,
Lois & Drew Griffin. I have five children, 3
stepsons, six grandchildren (so far), and 2 great
grandsons, 6 yrs & 3 years old! How blessed I
Our staff is the best ever. We know that
extraordinary customer service is our bottom
line and pride ourselves on solving problems
quickly, cordially and professionally. Just
good ole southern hospitality!
All of our cottages are furnished to their
owner's tastes. Linens are NOT INCLUDED.
Our office is on the Island under our beautiful
bridge. At the foot of the bridge, turn left. Go
1 block to Jordan Blvd., turn left. We're the
2nd building on the right. We are open 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m., 6 days a week, year round and
Sunday by appointment or necessity. We are
also the Holden Beach Post Office Contract
Station (since 1965).
IF YOU CAN'T COME
If you must cancel your reservations, we will try
very hard to re-rent that cottage for you. However,
unless the entire week(s) is re-rented,
your deposit cannot be refunded. If we are
successful, a 10% cancellation fee will be charged.
Guests renting the same house from year to
year have until they check out to re-reserve
that cottage, with a $25.00 non refundable
and nontransferable reservation fee. If the
house becomes unavailable, we will do our best to
help you find another cottage. If a house is for sale,
we must reserve the right to show it with proper
notice to you.
RESERVATIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS
We will send you a letter in December requesting
a 1/2 deposit of the basic rent in January for your
rental cottage. A receipt and confirmation letter
will be sent to you when your deposit is received.
Deposits cannot be transferred to another house.
Your balance is due in full 30 days before you
arrive. We will not remind you, so please make
a note. We do not accept credit cards, however,
personal checks are fine. State and local taxes
(now 12.75%) will be added to your balance. (All
deposits will be held in an interest bearing escrow
account with interest earned by agent. All trust
monies are deposited with BB&T.)
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Check-in time is 3 p.m. or after. When you
arrive, come directly to our office. Do not go
to the cottage. This will delay your check-
in! Keys may be left out for late arrivals, if
balance is paid in full.
Let us know of any problems in the cottage
as soon as you arrive, or by 10 a.m. the next
morning. If we don't hear from you, we will consider
everything is fine. We respond quickly to
any problems, but cannot guarantee repairs will
be made during your stay due to service personnel
workload and parts available. No refunds
or rebates will be made for malfunctions
of any appliances or equipment.
NUMBER OF GUESTS
With the description of each cottage, we
state the bed sizes and maximum number
of people allowed in that house. This is the
maximum, not including infants and toddlers.
Overcrowding will not be tolerated. RV's,
campers, etc. cannot be attached to the cottages
or used for sleeping, by Town ordinance. Parking
is very limited.
WHEN YOU LEAVE
You must vacate the non-maid service cottages
before 11 a.m. When you bring us your keys
everyone must be out of the cottage. We
check the house after you leave to be sure
everything is in good order for the next guests.
You will be charged for things left undone
and damage to cottage, in or out. If you do
not want to clean, you should arrange and
pay for maid service before you leave.
Cottages, that include maid service check
out before 10 a.m. We will give you a list of
what maid service includes, and you will be
charged for anything left over and above this
list. (Maid service does not mean total disregard
for the property during your stay. We will
not tolerate this.)
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your sheet sets, towels, blankets, paper products,
cleaning supplies, beach chairs and fishing
rods. Most kitchens are well equipped, but if you
have a favorite frying pan, etc, bring it! If you can't
find something you need, call our office. Some of
us probably have one!
MAN'S BEST FRIEND
Some of our cottages allow you to bring your dog
with you. You must have permission in advance
from us and know our town rules on leash law, “pick
up”, and hours allowed on beach. A no-pet house
means just that and you and your pet will be asked
to leave immediately with all monies forfeited.
IF YOU SMOKE
Please choose a cottage whose owner does not
restrict smoking. We have owners who request
no smoking in their home. Honor their request.
However, we cannot guarantee any house being
smoke free or free from allergy causing agents.
WHAT YOU CAN’T DO
1. Locked closets, utility or storage areas are
owners personal property. Respect these
areas, they are not part of your rental!
2. Never grill on the decks of a cottage. Grill only
in the yard or designated area provided.
You will be charged for any damage.
3. Fireworks are against the law on Holden
Beach. Fire can result. Although fireworks are
sold in neighboring towns, we do not allow them
on our island. Prosecution can result.
4. Phones - No long distance calls can be made from
cottage phones except with credit cards or 800
numbers. Most cottages provide internet service
of some kind. Please do not abuse these amenities.
MESSAGES AND MAIL
Most houses have their own phones, but you can
pick up messages during normal business hours at our
office. Emergencies should be routed thru our Brunswick
County 911 Center (910-253-7490). Know your correct
address when calling. This will help them find you.
We are also the Holden Beach Post Office Contract
Station (since 1965). If friends want to write you during
your vacation, have them use 108 Jordan Blvd., Holden
Beach, NC 28462. Your mail will come to our office for
you to pick up. Most cottages do not have mail boxes,
so any unclaimed mail would be returned to sender. Mail
goes out every day at 12:30 p.m., except Sunday.
NON-FAMILY GROUPS, ETC.
None of the cottages shown are available for
rent to house parties, sororities, high-school
or college groups, chaperoned or non-family
groups, church groups, or other large groups.
If property is rented to any of the above
without our knowledge, admittance will not be
permitted and all monies forfeited.
HOLDEN BEACH PROPERTIES is not
responsible for any circumstances beyond
our control, such as disturbances on nearby
properties, beach conditions, construction or
acts of nature, etc.
We reserve the right to refund deposits,
refuse rental or discontinue occupancy if,
in the agency's opinion, same is detrimental
to the premises. No refunds shall be given
if occupancy is terminated as a result of a
violation of our rental regulations or state
laws. Our agency will make every effort to
ensure that accommodations selected will be
the one offered; however, should the owner sell
the premises prior to the dates of tenancy use,
or move in a year round resident or otherwise
prohibit the agent from making the premises
available, the agent may suggest comparable
accommodations, for the same period.
